Dinner Groups

In an effort to make Dinner Groups more accessible to more people and decrease the amount of commitment level that is currently required we are revamping the Dinner Group format.

Old Plan: Groups were chosen to stay together for a year.  Our original thought was that people would be able to develop deeper friendships through a longer time together.  However, the Lord has lovingly showed us that in this transient fast paced area that we need quick and easy way to incorporate activities into our lives: Therefore a new plan was developed to facilitate the meeting of more people within the body to grow our church family.  If you wish to form deeper, longer friendships please contact Brian about Small groups at brian.walters@mcleanbible.org.

Revamped Plan
Groups of 4 – 5 households will be randomly selected by lottery regionally (you choose the category you want to be in:  no kids, kids, don’t care) at a Potluck to be held 3 times a year (January, April, and July) and the group will stay together for a  3 month period only. Sessions will consist of January – March, April – June, July – September.  You may choose to be part of one, two or all three sessions during the year.  This is totally up to you and the time that you have to commit to a group.

About the Potluck:
NOTE:
The first potluck will be held sometime in June 2012 .

The requirement is that one member of your household must attend the potluck to be eligible for a group. This is due to the fact that we will no longer have sign up on the website as it will just become an informational site with the ability to email us any questions.

The groups will have self-accountability and the flavor of the group is up to the group. All we ask is that you plan activities to facilitate the “getting to know one another” better.  Attending the movies only is a poor example of community.  Attending the movies and going out to eat afterwards is a great plan.

The potluck will be open to the entire church to encourage community but only those chosen in a group will be sitting together so as to facilitate getting to know one another.

Naming Contest (YOU COULD WIN)

We are holding a contest (open to the church) to choose a new name for Dinner Groups as we feel that the name “Dinner Groups” does not encompass what we are truly about.  We are not just about Dinner anymore…..It’s Food, Fun, Fellowship, Caring Community, Connecting within the Church body to get to know one another better.  We eat, bowl, hike, geocache, attend concerts, game, and meet for pancakes, etc…etc….etc.  There will be a $25.00 visa gift card prize for the new chosen name.  Get your thinking caps on.
